Grand Opening Marks Christian Coleman’s Debut as Mokas’ First Franchisee and a Milestone in the Brand’s Next Chapter of Growth
SALINA, Kan., Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Mokas Coffee & Eatery, known for its expertly roasted coffee, freshly baked pastries, and made-to-order breakfast and lunch offerings, is celebrating the grand opening of its newest location at 11814 S Fellows St, Olathe, KS, on Wednesday, September 30. The opening marks a major milestone for the brand as it’s the first location to open under franchisee ownership. As the first-ever Mokas franchisee, Christian Coleman plans to open a total of six locations across Johnson, Douglas, and Shawnee counties. The Olathe opening builds on another significant milestone for Mokas, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in November 2025.
Grand Opening Celebrations
Mokas will host a Friends & Family Day on Sunday, September 27 before the official opening, followed by a full grand opening celebration on Wednesday, September 30, complete with a ribbon cutting alongside the local Chamber of Commerce. The first wave of guests will be entered to win a $100 social media giveaway, and guests visiting the new café can spin a prize wheel for branded merchandise, tote bags, and gift cards, while supplies last. Throughout the first month of operation, Mokas will also partner with KidsTLC, donating 10% of all 16 oz specialty drink sales to the local nonprofit.

About the Local Owner
Coleman brings a diverse hospitality and entrepreneurial background to his new venture. He launched his career in professional tennis at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California, where he oversaw VIP operations, sponsorships, and hospitality, and later became the youngest professional Tournament Director in tennis. He is also the Founder & President of Midwest Restaurant Group, and also co-founded Sunnyland Kansas Farm, an 80-acre organic farm, and developed a 20,000-square-foot industrial hemp drying facility in Newton, Kansas.
The new 3,100-square-foot café is expected to create between 45 and 60 new jobs in the Olathe community, with members of Coleman’s family also involved in supporting the business. Coleman has already signed on to build five additional Mokas locations across the Kansas City metro area, with the Olathe café serving as the flagship for that growth.
