Industry nonprofit wants experienced leaders to help guide its continued growth and advance its mission

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Aug. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Women in HVACR (WHVACR), a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration trades, is now accepting nominations for its board of directors.

Women in HVACR board member Jazmin Ramirez, Immediate Past President Kristin Gallup and Secretary Crystal Williams, left to right, celebrate the organization’s mission to empower women in the HVACR industry. WHVACR is accepting nominations for its 2027 board of directors through Sept. 16.

As WHVACR continues to expand its membership and influence across the industry, the organization is seeking experienced leaders who want to give back, help shape its strategic direction and support its mission of empowering women to succeed in HVACR. Members should submit a nomination on the WHVACR website by Wednesday, Sept. 16.

“Women in HVACR has grown because of leaders who are willing to invest their time, experience and ideas into creating opportunities for others,” said WHVACR President Jane Sidebottom. “Serving on our board is an opportunity to have a significant impact on the future of this organization and the women we serve. We are looking for leaders who understand our industry, believe in our mission and are ready to help us continue building on the momentum we have created.”

WHVACR is seeking board candidates who can contribute experience and expertise in several key areas, including:

  • Strategic leadership: A track record of leading organizations or teams, setting long-term priorities and turning strategic goals into action.
  • HVACR industry leadership: Five or more years of experience serving in a leadership capacity within the HVACR industry.
  • Governance: Knowledge of board responsibilities, fiduciary obligations, bylaws and compliance, with the judgment to assess risk and make decisions that support WHVACR’s mission and values.
  • Financial acumen: Experience reviewing nonprofit financial statements and budgets and contributing to sound financial planning and oversight. Knowledge of reserve funds and endowments is beneficial.
  • Fundraising and outreach: A willingness to help strengthen financial support for WHVACR by cultivating funding opportunities and leveraging industry relationships to broaden the organization’s reach and visibility.
  • Collaboration and mentorship: A collaborative approach to leadership, an ability to build consensus and a commitment to mentoring others while championing WHVACR’s mission.

Board members are elected to three-year terms, and self-nominations are accepted.

Following the deadline, WHVACR’s nominating committee will review applications before scheduling and conducting candidate interviews in early October. Final selections will be determined by a board vote in November 2026.

The call for board nominations comes as WHVACR continues to grow its national reach. The organization has more than 1,200 members and provides networking, education, mentorship, scholarship opportunities and regional and national events designed to help women build successful careers in HVACR.
