Team17’s legendary Commodore Amiga action series to receive re-release on modern platforms for the first time in a collection jam-packed with special features

DOVER, Del., Aug. 24, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The only thing more terrifying than finding yourself alone on an abandoned space station is finding out you’re not. Following the company’s return in 2025, Commodore has just announced its first foray back into publishing with the Alien Breed 35th Anniversary Collection [TRAILER], a download-to-own bundle of all six Alien Breed games originally built for Commodore’s Amiga computers, and coming to PC, Xbox, PlayStation on September 24, and coming to Nintendo Switch later this year.

The Alien Breed series became one of the Commodore Amiga’s most beloved franchises and helped establish Team17 as one of the era’s most inventive studios. The Anniversary Collection brings all six entries from that original era to modern consoles from the first time: Alien Breed (1991), Alien Breed: Special Edition (1992), Alien Breed II: The Horror Continues (1993, ECS and AGA versions included), Alien Breed: Tower Assault (1994, Amiga and CD32 versions included), Alien Breed 3D (1995, CD32 version), and Alien Breed 3D II: TKG (1996).

Each game is faithful to its original release on the Commodore Amiga while adding a set of modern updates that includes dual-stick control mapping, instant save states, retro screen filters, rumble feedback, and peer-to-peer online co-op in supporting titles. The collection also includes brand-new challenge modes built specifically for this release, along with an in-universe digital archive tucked inside the collection’s own space station setting, packed with developer interviews, early design documents, and previously unreleased material.

“When I was 8, I persuaded my parents to let me watch a certain Ridley Scott movie. For the first time, they said yes. I had nightmares for two years afterwards. A few years later, it was payback time! Alien Breed is the reason a lot of us stayed up way too late as kids, creeping through those corridors with the motion tracker beeping and no idea what was waiting around the corner,” said Peri Fractic, President and CEO + Chief Product Officer, Commodore. “Team17 built something that still holds up without any nostalgia required, and bringing all six games together in one place, running the way they were meant to run, felt like exactly the right project to launch Commodore back into publishing.”

To bring these classic titles back into the limelight, Commodore partnered with fellow retro gaming preservationists Antstream Arcade, whose online subscription service is the leading platform in nostalgic game-streaming. (Note: Alien Breed 35th Anniversary Collection is not connected to Antstrema Arcade’s streaming platform, and does not require an internet connection to play.)

“As a British game studio, we are immensely proud to be working on a legendary gaming legacy from such an important British publisher,” said Steve Cottam, CEO, Antstream Arcade. “At Antstream, we believe it is absolutely vital to preserve games for future generations, and this collection honors that mission while opening it up to a new generation of gamers.”

The Alien Breed 35th Anniversary Collection will be available starting September 24. Wishlist today on Steam, GOG, Xbox, PlayStation, and Epic Games Store, with Nintendo Switch to follow later this year.
