An approachable evening designed to make wills, estate planning and life planning feel clearer, calmer and less intimidating
FREDERICK, Md., Aug. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Sass Magazine is teaming up with The Community Foundation of Frederick County for the second annual Wine and Wills, a relaxed, informative evening designed to make estate planning feel more approachable for adults at every stage of life.
The event will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at The Elk’s Haven in downtown Frederick, Maryland. Tickets include admission to the event, an informative group discussion and opportunities for one-on-one conversations with women professionals specializing in estate law, accounting, financial planning, wealth management, banking and charitable giving.
Most people do not wake up excited to talk about wills, estate planning or legal documents, but these conversations can be essential for protecting the people, values and legacy that matter most. Wine and Wills is designed to take the fear and confusion out of life planning by creating a casual, welcoming space where guests can ask questions, gain practical insight and leave feeling more confident about their next steps.
Attendees can expect clear, jargon-free guidance on topics including:
- What a will actually does
- Estate-planning basics every adult should understand
- Documents adults should consider having in place
- Financial and tax considerations that may affect a plan
- Common estate-planning myths
- Ways to protect assets and prepare for the future
- Options for incorporating charitable giving into a lasting legacy
The event will bring together women professionals from across the life-planning process, including estate-planning attorneys, certified public accountants, financial planners, wealth advisors and charitable-giving experts. Together, they will offer insight into how legal documents, taxes, finances, asset management and philanthropic goals can intersect when planning for the future.
Guests will hear from the experts during a group discussion before having opportunities for one-on-one conversations based on their individual questions and planning needs.
Reflecting on the event’s purpose, Sass Magazine CEO and Publisher Kim Dow emphasizes that creating an uplifting and supportive environment is exactly the goal.
“Sass is about celebrating women in every stage of life — and that includes helping them plan for what comes next. Wine and Wills is a little different from our usual events, but it taps into something we’re deeply passionate about — empowering women with the knowledge and confidence to take charge of their future.”
The Community Foundation of Frederick County shares that vision. As President and CEO Elizabeth Y. “Betsy” Day explains, “You don’t need to have a large estate to make an impact. Even a modest plan can reflect your values and ensure the resources you have are directed with intention.”
Wine and Wills is open to anyone who keeps meaning to make a will, feels overwhelmed by legal or financial language, wants to better understand life planning or is curious about protecting their future and legacy. Guests may attend solo, with a friend or with a partner.
