Three-year partnership extends Recast’s manager development program “Accelerate” into nascent venture ecosystems across the region, with additional tracks for first-time managers and regional limited partners
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Recast Capital, a platform dedicated to investing in and supporting next-generation managers in venture, today announced a three-year partnership with IDB Lab, the innovation and venture arm of the Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB Group), to extend its Accelerate program to venture managers across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The initiative, known as the LAC Emerging Fund Managers Launchpad, will bring managers from the region to work alongside US-based participants.
Venture capital in LAC is concentrated in two markets. Brazil and Mexico attracted over 70% of venture dollars in the region, leaving Central America, the Caribbean, Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay with less than 5%, according to LAVCA’s 2025 Trends in Tech report. Locally based funds are better positioned to support founders in those markets, but they remain scarce. A new generation of local fund managers is emerging to fill this gap, but a support system is necessary to help sustain them in the market.
Recast launched Accelerate in 2023 and has supported 79 funds across three cohorts to date. The program is built to address the key issues that emerging managers face when building their firms: leveraging the right resources to create institutional quality infrastructure, best in class advisors for fund raising and operations assistance, and community to combat the isolation of doing it all on your own.
The IDB partnership extends Recast’s model in ways tailored to the region. Firstly, these managers will be joining the core Accelerate cohorts, working alongside US-based participants through the full program: a twelve-month curriculum, a peer pod of GPs at similar stages, executive coaching, and a shared services stack spanning investor relations, pitch refinement, sales training, legal, operations, fund finance, exit management, and AI and automation support. Content will be adapted for regional conditions, including local service providers and the LP archetypes that managers in the region will actually encounter.
In addition, Recast will run Aspiring Fund Manager Bootcamps, a series of workshops for prospective fund managers (e.g., angel investors and operators in the region) considering a first fund, building a pipeline of new GPs in the region. Separately, the program will work with limited partners across the region to foster a greater understanding of how venture capital works and mobilize more capital into local venture funds. Finally, as it has with its US cohorts to date, Recast will publish research on the LAC cohorts with the Milken Institute. Participating managers report on the demographics of the founders they back.
“The barriers a first-time manager runs into are remarkably consistent across markets,” said Courtney McCrea, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Recast Capital. “Beyond picking companies, you have to stand up a firm institutional LPs will trust and raise from investors who may never have backed a first fund. Accelerate surrounds managers with peers and advisors who have done both, and those relationships last long after the program ends.”
“Venture capital can be an important source of financing for innovation-driven companies with the potential to scale, but strong venture ecosystems also need locally rooted fund managers with the support, networks and resources to succeed,” said Graham Macmillan, General Manager of IDB Lab. “Through this partnership with Recast, we are bringing a proven model to nascent venture ecosystems across Latin America and the Caribbean, helping strengthen local fund managers and expand pathways to capital for the region’s entrepreneurs.”
“We’re excited to tackle the challenges in LAC via a three-pronged approach because the constraint there is not just supporting the managers in market,” said Sara Zulkosky, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Recast Capital. “There are people in these markets who would make strong fund managers and have not made the leap, and there are local investors who have never allocated to local venture funds. Working on all three at once is what sustainably grows venture ecosystems.”
The LAC participants will be announced separately once selection is complete.
Limited Partners and other organizations who would like to learn more about opportunities to get involved, and General Partners in the region who would like to be notified when applications open for both Accelerate and the Bootcamps, can register their interest here.
Accelerate is a fiscally sponsored project of New Venture Fund, a 501(c)(3) public charity.
