The company’s reported purchases of more than 300,000 metric tons highlight its commercial capacity, international market reach, and focus on supply-chain reliability.

MIAMI, Oct. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Occidental Resources Group LLC reported purchasing more than 300,000 metric tons of Argentine sunflower seeds valued at approximately $200 million in 2026, reflecting its participation in international agricultural trade during a period of record Argentine production and rising global demand.

Occidental Resources Group

The U.S.-based commodities trading company said it intended to sell the purchases in markets across Europe, India and South Africa, connecting Argentine agricultural supplies with international buyers amid changing global trade conditions.

Commercial capacity amid record production

Argentina’s 2025-26 sunflower harvest was estimated at 6.6 million metric tons by the Rosario Board of Trade, while the U.S. Department of Agriculture projected production of 7 million metric tons.

According to the Rosario Board of Trade, Argentine sunflower seed export sales declarations exceeded 1 million metric tons during the first four months of 2026, reflecting strong international demand, particularly from European markets facing regional supply constraints.

Occidental Resources’ reported purchasing volume represents a substantial commercial commitment within this expanding export market.

Operational reliability and traceability

The company identifies supply-chain coordination, product traceability and quality control as central to its international trading approach.

Occidental Resources cited its experience in Brazil’s cotton industry, where systems developed by the Brazilian Cotton Producers Association (ABRAPA) support product identification, origin verification, and quality documentation.

The company said this experience informs its approach to managing agricultural supply chains and meeting international buyer requirements.

Connecting Argentine production with global markets

The expansion of Argentine sunflower exports is creating opportunities for international trading companies that can coordinate supply, manage commercial requirements, and facilitate access to geographically diverse markets.

Occidental Resources’ reported activity reflects its focus on connecting agricultural production with international demand.

Sustaining these commercial relationships will depend on consistent product quality, reliable logistics, and the ability to respond to evolving market requirements.

As Argentina strengthens its position in global sunflower trade, Occidental Resources aims to expand its participation through international market access and coordinated commodity sourcing.
