PHOENIX, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — NEXA Lending today announced the launch of NEXA Unlimited, a new model designed to fundamentally change what loan officers should expect from their mortgage company.
Through NEXA Unlimited, loan officers can access 100% of the revenues from NEXA loans. No flat fee, no added per-file fee, no correspondent funding fee, no margin added because NEXA shares the purchase advices on every single loan, AND no closing fee. For NEXA CEO Mike Kortas, the premise is simple: loan officers should receive all of the value they create.
“We are providing loan officers access to 100% of the revenues from their NEXA loans,” Kortas said. “If you are producing the business, building the relationships, serving the borrower, and creating the revenue, we believe you should have access to all of it. NEXA Unlimited is about giving great producers what they deserve.”
The significance of NEXA Unlimited goes beyond another company program. NEXA believes it represents a direct challenge to one of the most established economic models in the independent mortgage broker channel: the flat fee as well as all retail models.
Across the broker channel, loan officers routinely encounter flat fees, funding fees, file fees, correspondent fees, closing fees, additional margins, or other transaction-level charges on funded loans.
NEXA Unlimited is not designed to lower those fees, it is designed to eliminate them.
“The question I would ask every top-producing loan officer in America is simple: how does your current company compete with this?” Kortas said. “If you are giving away revenues on every transaction that you do not have to give away, why? What are you getting in return? And if you are a broker owner, you have to ask yourself the same question. How are you going to compete for great producers when someone else can provide them more?”
The Math Behind NEXA Unlimited
The model is aggressive enough that even members of NEXA’s own executive team initially questioned whether the economics could work.
“When Mike first brought this model to me, I thought he was crazy. I genuinely did not believe the math could work,” said Von Maharaj, CFO of NEXA Lending. “Then we ran the numbers…”
According to Maharaj, NEXA’s scale, recent acquisitions, growing production volume, and deliberately lean operating structure fundamentally changed what the company could make possible.
“With the scale NEXA has already achieved, the additional volume coming into the organization, and the incredibly lean way we operate, the math absolutely works,” Maharaj said. “This is a volume business and NEXA has reached a scale where we can provide more to the loan officer while continuing to operate a strong and sustainable company. What initially looked crazy started looking a lot more like genius once you got under the hood.”
NEXA operates with significantly less traditional fixed infrastructure than many mortgage companies, allowing the organization to remain lean and nimble as it grows, that speed was evident in the creation of NEXA Unlimited.
Kortas first began discussing the concept with Maharaj on a Sunday evening and the finance team immediately began modeling the economics and evaluating what additional volume would be required to support it. Within hours, leadership had validated the model.
“We can make decisions differently because of how this company is built,” Maharaj said. “We can run the numbers, validate the economics, get leadership aligned, and move. That ability to evolve quickly is one of the things that makes NEXA different.”
“Too Good to Be True”
Kortas is also directly confronting what he says is one of the most common reactions when mortgage professionals first understand NEXA’s economics.
“It sounds too good to be true.” His answer is simple, it is true.
NEXA has grown to more than 4,000 loan officers and continues to expand through mostly organic growth and some strategic acquisitions. Its business model is built around scale, volume, operational efficiency, and a broader ecosystem of businesses and systems rather than depending solely on revenue taken from each individual transaction.
“NEXA makes money,” Kortas said. “We have simply built the company differently. We do not believe the answer has to be taking more and more from the loan officer on every transaction. NEXA Unlimited is possible because we have spent years building scale and creating a model that does not depend on that. I don’t need to make money on individual loans anymore, I make money on volume.”
A Challenge to the Traditional Mortgage Company
The launch comes as established mortgage entrepreneurs are increasingly evaluating whether maintaining the cost, infrastructure, compliance burden, and administrative responsibility of a standalone mortgage company still creates the best outcome for their businesses and their loan officers.
Recent additions including Anthony Casa and UMortgage, as well as more to be announced later this week, reflect what Kortas sees as a larger industry shift.
For some owners, becoming part of NEXA does not mean becoming less entrepreneurial, it can mean becoming more entrepreneurial. One company preparing to make that move later this week described the opportunity as a chance to become more entrepreneurial than ever by eliminating many of the operational burdens that had previously consumed time and resources. By removing many of the headaches associated with running a standalone mortgage company, owners can redirect their attention toward production, leadership, relationships, growth, and the businesses they actually want to build.
“If you are a broker owner, put the ego and the title aside for a minute and ask what is actually best for your loan officers, your business, and your family,” Kortas said. “If you are running a small or midsize IMB and carrying all of that overhead, compliance responsibility, infrastructure, and stress, call us. Let us show you another way, and if you are a producer somewhere else receiving less and getting less, ask yourself why.”
For Kortas, NEXA Unlimited is ultimately about resetting expectations.
Loan officers generate extraordinary value for mortgage companies; they build the relationships, they earn the trust, they find the borrowers, and they originate the loans. NEXA believes the economics should reflect that.
The next era of the independent mortgage industry will not be defined by which company can charge the lowest flat fee, it will be defined by which company is willing to give the loan officer everything, NEXA believes that number should be 100%.
