Mindtrip Launches Personal Travel Assistant That Knows the Traveler, Not Just the Trip

Travel-specific AI learns what matters to each traveler, remembers it from one journey to the next and uses AI agents to research, monitor and work on the traveler’s behalf

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Mindtrip, an AI-powered travel platform, today announced the launch of its Personal Travel Assistant, a travel-specific AI assistant built around the traveler rather than just the trip.

For decades, travel technology has focused on helping people search, compare, and book, starting with a destination, dates and a set of filters. But the hardest part of travel planning is often deciding what is actually right for you. The right flight, hotel, neighborhood or itinerary depends on personal preferences, priorities, and tradeoffs that traditional travel technology rarely understands.

Mindtrip’s Personal Travel Assistant starts with the traveler, learning what matters to them, remembering that context from one journey to the next, and using it to help them make better decisions. It can also activate AI agents that continue working on the traveler’s behalf, helping them stay one step ahead before and during their trip.

During beta testing, more than 18,000 travelers set up their Personal Travel Assistant to plan trips. In the last two weeks alone, people who set up their assistant on Mindtrip were 3x more likely to create a trip than those who did not.

“Travel technology has gotten very good at finding and booking things, but it has never truly understood the traveler,” said Andy Moss, CEO and co-founder of Mindtrip. “The hard part isn’t booking a hotel. The hard part is knowing which hotel is right for you, given who you’re traveling with, what matters on this particular trip, and the tradeoffs you are willing to make. We built Mindtrip to understand that context, put it to work through agents that can keep working even when you aren’t actively planning.”

Travelers can simply tell the Personal Travel Assistant what matters to them: “Aisle seat, always.” “I’ll splurge on food, not hotels.” “Stay close to the action, but not in the middle of it.” “I prefer experiences that feel local, not touristy.” “Mix active days with plenty of downtime.”

Over time, Mindtrip builds a rich understanding of the traveler, using those preferences alongside information such as airline and hotel programs, travel companions, budget, interests, and past trips to shape recommendations around the individual.

More importantly, it learns how those priorities change depending on the trip. A traveler may usually prefer a nonstop flight but decide the convenience is not worth an extra $500 on a particular journey. Someone who normally chooses boutique hotels may prioritize space when traveling with children. Mindtrip uses that broader context to understand when a preference should hold and when the circumstances of that particular trip should take priority, helping travelers weigh the tradeoffs rather than simply match them to a static profile.

The Personal Travel Assistant is also designed to keep working after the traveler leaves the conversation. Travelers can activate AI agents that work on their behalf, watching for things that matter to them and surfacing useful updates when there is something worth their attention. An agent might evaluate several possible destinations and dates for a better flight, watch for a hotel price change, or continually look for restaurants, events, and weekend ideas in their hometown that match the traveler’s interests.

Instead of requiring travelers to repeatedly search for the same information, the assistant can bring relevant changes and better options back to them when there is a reason to pay attention or act.

Across the travel journey, the assistant can put what it knows to work researching and evaluating options, building itineraries, preparing destination briefings, making packing recommendations, and keeping track of important trip details. Rather than simply surface available inventory, it helps travelers evaluate what is right for them based on the context of the trip. During a trip, it can help navigate changing conditions and surface nearby restaurants, attractions, and experiences matched to the traveler’s interests. Travelers can book through Mindtrip and keep reservations, itineraries, and trip details organized in one place.

Mindtrip also pairs this understanding of the traveler with travel-specific intelligence, destination knowledge, local-expert recommendations, and insights from experienced travelers. Because Mindtrip is independent of airlines, hotels and other travel suppliers, its recommendations are designed around the traveler rather than a particular supplier or commission.

“Our vision is that every traveler has an assistant that knows them, works for them, and keeps them one step ahead,” said Moss. “The more you travel with it, the better it understands what matters to you. Every trip makes the next one better, and over time there is more the assistant can do on your behalf.“
