FPGA-based OCP DC-SCM 2.x platform lets server builders configure management and security capabilities during design-in — and keep evolving them after deployment.
MILPITAS, Calif., Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Logic Fruit Technologies today unveiled L-Nex™, a family of FPGA-based Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) products for Open Compute Project (OCP) DC-SCM 2.x servers. L-Nex™ runs OpenBMC and combines the management processor, host interfaces, remote KVM, telemetry and hardware root of trust in a single reconfigurable FPGA SoC.
The core idea: move server management from fixed-function silicon to a configurable platform — shaped with customers at design-in, then evolved through authenticated software and FPGA bitstream updates over the life of the server.
Why it matters for AI infrastructure
- AI/GPU servers demand more telemetry, power and thermal control, and stronger security at the management layer.
- Servers stay deployed for years while security standards and protocols keep changing.
- Fixed BMC silicon cannot adapt without a new chip generation; L-Nex™ can.
Configure • Deploy • Evolve • Extend
- Configure platform-specific interfaces, telemetry and security functions during design-in.
- Deploy on an open, standard OCP DC-SCM/DC-SCI architecture with upstream OpenBMC.
- Evolve management, interface and security functions through authenticated updates.
- Extend with customer logic in reserved fabric capacity, inside a common, controlled platform.
Key capabilities
- Upstream OpenBMC with Redfish, IPMI, PLDM/MCTP and SPDM; source-delivered BSP and drivers.
- Hardware root of trust: secure and measured boot, attestation, NIST SP 800-193 firmware resiliency.
- A path to post-quantum cryptography without replacing the management architecture.
- Host-independent telemetry analytics — thermal anomalies, fan-failure prediction, power trends (early access).
- Multi-silicon architecture across FPGA SoC families, reducing single-source dependence.
“Many of the critical control functions inside a server are still defined by fixed-function silicon. With L-Nex™, we are building a reconfigurable management platform that customers can help shape for their next-generation systems — and that keeps evolving after those systems are deployed,” said Sunil Kar, President and CEO, Logic Fruit Technologies.
Availability
L-Nex™ is in development, with production readiness targeted for Q3 2027. Logic Fruit is now engaging OEMs, ODMs, hyperscalers and infrastructure operators through its early evaluation and design-partner program. Visit www.logic-fruit.com.
