The distinction is part of the Michelin Guide’s 2026 global selection, which recognized 20 Chilean hotels, establishing Viña Santa Rita as an icon of heritage and cultural tourism worldwide, and reflecting the excellence in hospitality and quality of service of its boutique hotel.

NEW YORK, Oct. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The prestigious Michelin Guide, known worldwide for evaluating and rating restaurant quality through its Stars, unveiled its 2026 Michelin Keys list, a distinction it has awarded for two years now and which is the hotel equivalent of the Michelin Star for restaurants.

Hotel Casa Real is located on the Santa Rita Estate in the world-famous Alto Maipo wine valley

In 2025, the Guide awarded this distinction to Chilean hotels for the first time, recognizing a total of 17 properties. This year, Hotel Casa Real was honored with its first Michelin Key, joining the 20 hotels recognized by the 2026 Guide, two of which are winery hotels.

The 2026 global selection added more than 470 new establishments across 79 destinations, bringing the worldwide total of Michelin Key hotels to 2,832.

Hotel Casa Real: Heritage, History and Excellence

Located in the heart of the Maipo Valley, just 45 minutes from Santiago, Hotel Casa Real of Viña Santa Rita has been recognized for offering a heritage experience that combines history, culture, gastronomy and wine in an unrivaled natural setting — where tradition, rooted in its winemaking identity, and sophistication, expressed through a contemporary experience, come together to deliver heritage, cultural and culinary tourism within an exceptional natural environment.

“This recognition reflects Viña Santa Rita’s commitment to preserving the history, culture and identity of Chilean wine, and to offering that combination of tradition and sophistication that has placed our wines among the world’s finest. We are filled with pride that Hotel Casa Real has earned its first Michelin Key, reaffirming the value of Chile’s heritage and, at the same time, inspiring us to continue safeguarding this legacy so future generations can experience it too,” said Elena Carretero, Corporate Affairs, Sustainability and Tourism Director at Viña Santa Rita.

Declared a National Historic Monument in 1972 and designed by German architect Teodoro Burchard, Hotel Casa Real invites guests to explore the rich heritage of Viña Santa Rita: a 40-hectare centenary park, a neo-Gothic chapel, historic cellars, the Doña Paula restaurant — a tribute to Paula Jaraquemada and her role in Chile’s independence — and the Andean Museum, part of the Claro Vial Foundation, home to more than 3,000 archaeological and ethnographic pieces from South America’s native peoples.

This new recognition adds to a series of distinctions that have established Hotel Casa Real among the continent’s leading heritage destinations. In 2024, Travel + Leisure named it among the world’s 40 best hotels and the second-best in South America in its World’s Best Awards, while Condé Nast Traveler has included it in its Readers’ Choice Awards for three consecutive years — 2023, 2024 and 2025. Booking.com also awarded it the Traveller Review Award in 2025 and 2026, recognizing its hospitality and service.

“We are very proud of this recognition, which honors the trajectory of our beloved Hotel Casa Real, a historic monument made truly special and unique through its wine, gastronomy, culture and history. All of this, together with a team that works with passion and a strong sense of belonging, is undoubtedly key to creating memorable experiences for our visitors,” said Juan Vila, Hotel Manager Casa Real.

These achievements reflect Hotel Casa Real’s consolidation as a benchmark for Chilean wine tourism and heritage hospitality in South America, reaffirming Viña Santa Rita’s commitment to culture and to preserving Chile’s winemaking heritage and identity.

About the Michelin Guide’s Hotel Selection

The Michelin Guide’s hotel selection is based on the work of its inspectors, who travel anonymously and independently to identify hotels offering exceptional experiences. The selection brings together a wide variety of properties, from historic buildings and grand hotels to independent boutique hotels, remote retreats and innovative recent openings. Hotels receive one, two or three Michelin Keys depending on the level of experience they offer. One Key, a very special stay; two Keys, an exceptional stay; three Keys, an extraordinary stay.

About Casa Real and Viña Santa Rita

Casa Real is the flagship wine of Viña Santa Rita and one of Chile’s most celebrated Cabernet Sauvignons. Produced only in exceptional vintages since its inaugural 1989 harvest, Casa Real is sourced from a historic 20-hectare vineyard of ungrafted vines in Alto Jahuel, in the heart of the Maipo Valley. Its purity, consistency, and authenticity have established it as an international benchmark, earning recognition as the first Latin American wine named a “Wine Legend” by Decanter.

Founded in 1880, Viña Santa Rita is today one of Chile’s leading wineries, renowned for its heritage, innovation, and commitment to crafting wines of world-class quality. With Casa Real at its pinnacle, Santa Rita continues to showcase the unique terroirs of Chile and to project the excellence of Chilean wine to the world.
