GSA has been contributing to the “Green industrial recovery project for Ukraine through technology transfer and the co-creation of new businesses with Japan’s private industries (hereinafter “the Project”)”. This project is funded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI), and implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The Project aims to support country’s industrial recovery and innovation ecosystem building through technology transfer, capacity building and business co-creation between Ukrainian and Japanese private sectors.
Under the feasibility study of the Project, led by GSA as the grant beneficiary, in collaboration with Ukrainian company TETRAVION K Ltd., they aim to develop plant biomass based biodegradable resin and plastic with organic biomass waste in Ukraine. The feasibility study was signed and began on September 30 2025. The aim of the feasibility study is to assess the applicability of GSA technology and its potential contribution to the recovery of Ukraine’s green industry.
GSA has been developing plant biomass based resin, plastics, coating, glue, adhesive, paint, color, nanocellulose, biochar, rubber, textile, nail cosmetics, detergent, plasticizer, lubricant, 3D printer products etc. GSA is striving to replace all petroleum derived materials and products with plant biomass based alternatives, in order to reduce CO2 emission and plastic pollution. GSA and TETRAVION K Ltd will focus on creating bioplastics with biomass and organic waste in Ukraine as feasibility study for the 1st year. Organic waste they are planning to use as raw materials for bioplastics are agricultural waste, straw, corn husk etc.

Dr. Mori and Dr. Haneji at GSA conducted field surveys in the vicinity of Kyiv in late March of this year. They held a meeting with Ukrainian partner, Tetravion K Ltd., and visited an affiliated company that manufactures biodegradable plastic films. They also visited and potential site locations for a future manufacturing plant. Additionally, they held meetings with local companies involved in the food and biogas power generation sectors, to discuss the future potential of available biomass waste. Furthermore, GSA held discussions with the relevant governmental body in charge of verifying the impurity profiles, chemical composition, and safety standards for biodegradable plastic products in Ukraine.
Moreover, they also met and discussed about establishing a Ukrainian branch and future business development in Ukraine with representatives from the Embassy of Japan, and the JETRO Kyiv Office.
As a next step, as part of the feasibility study, GSA is producing prototypes of plant-based biomass resin and plastic products using biomass waste from Ukraine as partial material ingredients, in order to drive this project forward with the goal of being selected for future pilot technology demonstration phase after the feasibility study report meets certain conditions.
