The company’s technology connects the full history of a claim, giving public adjusters evidence against complexity that can conceal millions
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Finch has launched the property claims industry’s first full-claim intelligence platform, combining historical claim records, live inbox activity and analysis across the full life of a claim. The platform pulls together the entire universe of a claim, exposing what complexity conceals and turning it into usable intelligence.
The facts of a property claim are often scattered across thousands, and sometimes tens of thousands, of emails, documents, photographs and estimates. Large insurance carriers have the staff, data and technology to navigate even the most challenging claims. Policyholders and their representatives are left searching for answers. Finch is built to challenge that imbalance.
That tension is growing. Property claims are taking longer to resolve than at any point since 2008, according to J.D. Power’s 2025 U.S. Property Claims Satisfaction Study. Following 27 catastrophic events in 2024 and 28 the year before, average repair times reached 32.4 days, while final payments took more than 44 days. Longer timelines can also mean larger claim records, as emails, photographs, estimates, supplements and other documentation accumulate over the life of a claim.
Finch connects directly to the inbox, where claim work already happens, and automatically builds a complete, continuously updated claim record. It matches every relevant email and attachment to the correct claim, extracts the important information and connects it to the claim’s full history. Finch then compares estimates, documents and claim data to identify overlooked facts, unanswered questions, missing line items, costs and inconsistencies that might otherwise go unnoticed.
“The insurance industry does not have an information shortage. It has an information asymmetry,” said Thomas McLaughlin, founder and CEO of Finch. “The truth of a claim can be buried in a record so large and complex that no single person could realistically uncover everything that matters. Finch lifts that truth out of the claim record, brings it to light and gives the people representing policyholders the firepower to act on it.”
Intelligence that understands the entire claim
Generative AI has made it possible to summarize individual documents in seconds. Finch is taking the next step: connecting and reasoning across the complete history of a claim.
The platform combines three layers that have historically remained separate:
- A firm’s historical claims, documents, contacts and communications.
- New emails and attachments added automatically as a claim develops.
- An intelligence layer that makes the complete record searchable and actionable.
“Most products address a vertical slice of the claim,” McLaughlin said. “One may read a policy. Another may store documents or build a customer record. Finch brings all of it together. Context creates intelligence, and connecting the full claim is what helps public adjusters see what others miss and act with stronger evidence.”
Uncovering what complexity hides
Finch makes claim information easier to find and harder to overlook. To date, the platform has analyzed 315,000 documents from more than 15,000 property claims. In a sample comparing carrier estimates with those prepared by public adjusters, Finch identified an average difference of nearly 50%, representing more than $6 million in repair costs omitted from carrier estimates.
Claim values can also shift substantially over time. Among property claims in which insurers made no payment during the first six months, Finch found that the final settlement was typically 43% higher than the insurer’s initial estimate. The findings show how substantially a claim’s value can change as the record develops and additional damage, costs and documentation are accounted for.
Building the data layer for the future of insurance
Finch’s ambition extends beyond automating individual claims. By structuring the complete history of each claim, rather than just analyzing isolated documents, the company is building a connected intelligence layer for property claims. Over time, this foundation can help AI understand claims in context, identify patterns across authorized data and uncover costs, inconsistencies and information that might otherwise remain overlooked.
“The way software companies are built has changed,” McLaughlin said. “In an AI-driven future, the most valuable platform will be the one capable of supplying models and agents with the complete, reliable data they need. Finch is organizing the world’s claim data so AI can understand a claim as a whole, helping public adjusters find what others miss and build stronger, evidence-backed claims for policyholders.”
Finch has raised $4.5 million from focal, Company Ventures, Veridical Ventures, TipTop VC and Aglaé Ventures, whose portfolio includes Airbnb, Spotify, Slack and Stripe.
Finch is initially available to public adjusters and public adjusting firms working across residential and commercial property claims.
