Massachusetts attorney represents individuals across the Northeast who were diagnosed with NAION after using GLP-1 medications as federal litigation continues to expand.
ATTLEBORO, Mass., Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Rightful Legal, P.C. founder and attorney Tracy Paulsen is representing individuals who have suffered serious vision loss and been diagnosed with non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy, or NAION, after using GLP-1 medications, including Ozempic and Wegovy.
Paulsen has been following the medical research and federal product liability litigation surrounding GLP-1 medications and NAION. Patients have filed lawsuits alleging that drug manufacturers failed to adequately warn users about the potential risk of sudden and permanent vision loss. The manufacturers dispute that the medications have been proven to cause NAION.
Attorney Paulsen has published a video explaining GLP-1 medications, vision loss and potential NAION claims.
Paulsen’s work builds on her experience handling serious injury and product liability matters, where medical evidence, causation and a detailed understanding of a client’s history can be central to the case. In evaluating GLP-1 and NAION claims, she focuses on the timing of medication use, vision loss, medical diagnoses, prescribing records and developments in the scientific and legal landscape.
“NAION can be a devastating diagnosis because vision loss may occur suddenly and can permanently change virtually every aspect of a person’s life,” Paulsen said. “These cases require careful review of the patient’s medication history, medical records, diagnosis and the developing scientific evidence. People who have experienced vision loss deserve to understand whether they may have legal options.”
Scientific research continues to examine the possible connection. A large population-based study published in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism found that initiation of GLP-1 receptor agonists was associated with an increased risk of presumed NAION compared with SGLT2 inhibitors, while emphasizing that the absolute increase in risk was small. Researchers have cautioned that the overall evidence remains developing.
Federal NAION liability cases have been centralized in MDL No. 3163 in U.S. District Court, where plaintiffs allege failure-to-warn, design-defect and warranty claims involving GLP-1 medications.
