VERO BEACH, Fla., Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Watercrest Senior Living is proud to donate a community bus from Watercrest St. Lucie West Assisted Living and Memory Care to support local children during police raids, rescues and other crisis situations. The senior living bus will be transformed into a warm, welcoming and comforting space where children feel safe and cared for in challenging situations.

Watercrest St. Lucie West Assisted Living and Memory Care has donated a community bus to benefit the United Against Child Trafficking organization in supporting local children during police raids, rescues and other crisis situations.

Bobi Kruemberg, Executive Director of Watercrest St. Lucie West, also serves as a board member for United Against Child Trafficking (UACT).  During a recent meeting, Kruemberg learned of the critical need in the Port St. Lucie area for a mobile medical rescue unit to serve children in crisis situations. As Watercrest St. Lucie West had recently acquired another transport bus, Kruemberg spearheaded the donation of the bus with the Watercrest organization in full support.

“This project reflects a commitment to Watercrest’s principles in serving a purpose greater than ourselves,” says Marc Vorkapich, Principal and CEO of Watercrest Senior Living Group. “We are honored that a bus once used to serve our residents can now be repurposed to serve the critical needs of children in our community.”

The bus renovation will require approximately $50,000 in materials and services, and the St. Lucie community has responded with an outpouring of generosity. A local craftsman recently volunteered to complete the exterior work, representing an estimated $15,000 donation to the project.  Once renovated, the bus will feature a warm, inviting interior with cozy furnishings, soft blankets, and toys to provide a sense of security and reassurance when children are removed from challenging or unsafe circumstances.

“Our Watercrest residents and associates immediately understood the significance of this project,” says Bobi Kruemberg, Executive Director of Watercrest St. Lucie West. “They are making blankets and donating toys for the bus so that every child can receive a gift blessed with love, prayers and the message that they are valued, protected and cared for.”

Watercrest St. Lucie West is a signature Watercrest product providing 102 assisted living and 26 memory care apartments with resort-style service and breathtaking lakeside views. The community boasts an exquisite design with stunning promenade, fireplace, signature water wall, multiple dining options, pool, salon and spa, grand balconies and Florida style outdoor living spaces with picturesque water views. Watercrest St. Lucie West is conveniently located at 279 NW California Boulevard along Florida’s breathtaking Treasure Coast, just minutes from abundant dining, entertainment, and retail options. For information, contact the community at 772-758-7472.
