Vitamin Angels 2030: Science. Systems. Scale. is designed to reach 477 million women and children by 2030, an impact the organization estimates will protect 10 million women and children from malnutrition, save the lives of 360,000 children, and reduce the risk of infectious disease for 300,000 children across 57 countries.

GOLETA, Calif., Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Today, Vitamin Angels announced the launch of Vitamin Angels 2030: Science. Systems. Scale., an ambitious five-year strategy designed to reach 477 million at-risk women and children with life-saving nutrition solutions across 57 countries. Through this work, Vitamin Angels estimates that it will protect 10 million women and children from malnutrition, save the lives of 360,000 children ages 0–5, and reduce the risk of infectious disease for 300,000 children ages 0–5.

Built on three connected principles—science, systems, and scale—the strategy reflects Vitamin Angels’ commitment to deepening its scientific leadership and implementation expertise, strengthening the systems and partnerships that turn proven solutions into sustainable impact, and working alongside governments and partners to expand proven nutrition interventions at the magnitude the global challenge demands. Together, these principles provide a framework for advancing Vitamin Angels’ mission to save lives and improve the health of women and children most at risk through proven nutrition solutions.

The strategy launches at a pivotal moment in global health when the need for proven nutrition solutions has never been greater and the world is still falling short of delivering them at the scale required. In 2024, 150.2 million children under age five were affected by stunting and 42.8 million by wasting. In 2023, nearly one in three women ages 15–49 experienced anemia, including more than one in three pregnant women, increasing the risk of poor maternal and birth outcomes. Effective and affordable nutrition interventions exist, yet millions of women and children continue to lack access to them.

“Vitamin Angels 2030: Science. Systems. Scale. is our response to a changing global health and development landscape,” said Ana Céspedes, President and CEO of Vitamin Angels. “We believe change is the only constant, and we have a responsibility to evolve while staying rooted in what has always defined Vitamin Angels: women and children at the center of every decision we make. By deepening our commitment to evidence and implementation science, strengthening the systems and partnerships that turn proven interventions into sustainable impact, and scaling what works, we can help more women and children benefit from solutions that save lives and improve health.”

At the center of Vitamin Angels 2030: Science. Systems. Scale. is its new Pathway to Impact, an innovative Theory of Change, supported by an organization-wide Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) system that guides Vitamin Angels’ work toward impacting 477 million women and children with proven nutrition interventions over the next five years. The strategy will tailor its approach to each country through three pathways of engagement: Product Access, Capacity Strengthening, and Country Systems Strengthening across 57 countries. In nine of these countries, Vitamin Angels will deepen its engagement by working alongside governments to strengthen policies, local supply, financing, monitoring, and health systems to support long-term, country-led nutrition programs. Together, these pathways provide a flexible framework for responding to country priorities and opportunities while maintaining broad global reach and investing more deeply where stronger systems and long-term partnerships can accelerate sustainable impact.

The Pathway to Impact will be anchored in Vitamin Angels’ core nutrition programs, while creating opportunities to layer complementary interventions and expand impact. Vitamin Angels will continue to strengthen and scale Multiple Micronutrient Supplementation (MMS) for pregnant women, vitamin A supplementation and deworming for children up to age five, and other evidence-based nutrition solutions based on country priorities and needs. Through implementation science and lessons learned from country programs, Vitamin Angels will continue adapting its approach to local contexts, helping countries deliver proven nutrition interventions more effectively, sustainably, and at scale.

“For more than 30 years, Vitamin Angels has been driven by the conviction that every woman and child deserves the health they need to thrive,” said Jim Hamilton, Chair of the Vitamin Angels Board of Directors. “This strategy honors that legacy while preparing the organization for the future. It reflects a thoughtful evolution of how Vitamin Angels will work—building on what we have learned, strengthening the partnerships and systems that make lasting impact possible, and remaining focused on what matters most: improving the health of women and children most at risk. As we look to 2030, we are committed to carrying this work forward with purpose, accountability, and ambition.”

Vitamin Angels 2030: Science. Systems. Scale. is more than a five-year strategy. It is a commitment to women and children who cannot afford to wait for progress and to ensuring that proven nutrition solutions reach those who need them most. The path ahead will require agility, collaboration, and an unwavering focus on outcomes, but the destination is clear: a world where every woman and child has the health and support they need to thrive.
