Beast and Edge of Hell will open select nights Oct. 2–31

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 4, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — After more than five decades of terrifying Kansas City, Edge of Hell is turning up the fear but shortening the calendar. With September temperatures running hotter, the legendary haunted attraction will concentrate its 52nd season into just 13 select nights this October, alongside sister attraction The Beast.

Nationally acclaimed haunts, Edge of Hell and Beast Haunted Attractions, open for the 52nd Season - and the return of Rat Man and the Queen of Haunts.

For generations, haunt season in Kansas City has crept earlier and earlier. Decades ago, the attractions could begin as early as August. As August heat became too much for costumed performers and guests, the season shifted into September. Now, with September temperatures continuing to climb, the legendary West Bottoms haunts are making another adjustment to move the entire season to October.

The attractions will open Oct. 2–3; Oct. 9–10; Oct. 15–17; Oct. 22–24; and Oct. 29–31. The schedule includes several weeknights with the addition of Thursdays, giving haunt fans more opportunities to experience two of the country’s most acclaimed haunted attractions.

“Maybe 13 isn’t unlucky after all. We’re packing 52 years of fear into 13 October nights—cooler temperatures, darker nights and that unmistakable feeling that Halloween is getting closer,” said Amber Arnett-Bequeaith, spokesperson for Beast and Edge of Hell and widely known as the Queen of Haunts.

52 Seasons of Fear

Edge of Hell Haunted Attraction opened in 1975, and is celebrating its 52nd season and holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously operating haunted attraction in the United States.

Beast Haunted Attraction followed in 1991 and has become one of the country’s most nationally acclaimed haunted attractions. Together, the two attractions helped establish Kansas City’s Historic West Bottoms as a destination for serious haunt fans and Halloween enthusiasts from around the country.

For generations of Kansas City families and haunt fans, a trip to the West Bottoms has become an annual Halloween tradition.

“Fifty-two seasons, good night almighty, that’s a lot of scares,” said Arnett-Bequeaith. “We have people who first came through Edge of Hell as kids and are now bringing their grandkids. That’s the whole kit and caboodle right there – generations of Kansas Citians growing up with us. A lot has changed since we first opened the doors, and we’ve changed right along with it. Today’s thrill-seekers want bigger, bolder, and crazier, so after 52 years, we’re still stirring the cauldron and finding new ways to make Kansas City scream.”

Tickets available online now at kcbeast.com and edgeofhell.com
