LOS ANGELES, Sept. 17, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The Realest, the leading authentication and auction platform for game-worn sports memorabilia, today announced the auction of Shohei Ohtani’s game-worn Los Angeles Dodgers jersey from the 2025 MLB Tokyo Series opener played at the Tokyo Dome on March 18, 2025, the first official Major League Baseball game Ohtani ever played in Japan.

The jersey carries the first Gold MLB Logoman ever worn in an official MLB game. Introduced by MLB in 2025, the Gold Logoman patch is worn by the previous season’s MVP, Cy Young and Rookie of the Year winners, and Ohtani was in the first class of players to wear it following his 2024 National League MVP season. That patch was never removed and remains intact on the jersey alongside the commemorative 2025 Tokyo Series patch and the Dodgers’ Fernando Valenzuela No. 34 memorial patch.

Bidding is open now at TheRealest.com and will close on Saturday, October 17.

“This is one of those rare pieces where the history, provenance and market all come together,” said Scott Keeney (DJ Skee), Founder and CEO of The Realest. “It is the jersey from Ohtani’s first Major League game in Japan, it carries the first Gold MLB Logoman ever worn in official play, and collectors have already shown what these artifacts are worth, including the $440,055 shoes we sold from this exact game. This is exactly what The Realest was built for.”

The jersey is offered through The Realest’s Certified program, which verifies exceptional memorabilia through physical review, provenance and documentation checks, and evaluation by The Realest’s experts. The jersey was authenticated through Major League Baseball’s on-field Authentication Program, definitively photo-matched to Ohtani during the game by SIA Photomatching, and its signing was documented, filmed and authenticated through Fanatics Authentic. It bears Ohtani’s rare kanji signature (大谷翔平) and his handwritten inscriptions “Opening Day Tokyo Series,” “GU 3-18-25” and “NL MVP.”

More than 25 million viewers in Japan watched the March 18 opener, the most-watched MLB game ever in the country. Ohtani went 2-for-5 with two runs in the Dodgers’ 4-1 win over the Cubs, opening a season in which he won his fourth MVP and the Dodgers won a second straight World Series.

Ohtani memorabilia already sits at the top of the collectibles market. A Dual Gold Logoman Autograph card carrying two of his game-worn Gold Logoman patches sold for $11 million in July 2026, his 50/50 home run ball sold for $4.4 million, and his game-worn Japan jersey from the 2026 World Baseball Classic opener sold for $1.5 million, the current public auction record for an Ohtani game-worn jersey and the benchmark this jersey is positioned to surpass. Weeks ago, Ohtani’s game-used New Balance Ohtani 1 shoes from this same March 18 game sold for $440,055 through The Realest, a public auction record for baseball footwear at roughly five times the prior mark.
