Carstensen, founding director of the Stanford Center on Longevity, joins Attilio as Co-Chairman alongside Dr. Eric Verdin of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Oct. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Attilio announced today that Dr. Laura Carstensen, founding director of the Stanford Center on Longevity, has joined the company as Co-Chairman, alongside Dr. Eric Verdin of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging.

Dr. Laura Carstensen, Founding Director, Stanford Center on Longevity, Stanford University, Attilio Co-Chair

Carstensen founded the Stanford Center on Longevity in 2007, years before longevity became a mainstream field of study, and directed it for nearly two decades. A Stanford professor for close to four decades, she is the author of “A Long Bright Future: Happiness, Health, and Financial Security in an Age of Increased Longevity” and an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

As Co-Chairman, Carstensen brings Attilio the research behind its understanding of what a long life actually looks like. Her work on socioemotional selectivity theory and the positivity effect, the finding that emotional wellbeing tends to improve with age rather than decline, shapes how Attilio talks about aging to its members. Her New Map of Life framework, developed at the Stanford Center on Longevity, guides how Attilio designs a membership built for a century of living rather than a single, static version of adulthood. That same research underlies Attilio’s Health Optimization Index(TM), the score members use to track progress over time.

Carstensen also headlines Attilio’s inaugural Longevity Event, October 29 and 30, 2026, at Stanford University and the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, alongside Verdin, Dr. Robert Waldinger of Harvard Medical School, and Dr. Dean Ornish.

“Laura built this field before the rest of us caught up to her,” said Paul A. Pagnato, CEO & Founder of Attilio. “Now, as Co-Chairman, she makes sure everything Attilio builds is grounded in real science, not trend chasing.”

Attilio Mission: Democratize access to +100Year Quality Lifespan, reaching 99% of U.S. population.
