LOS ANGELES, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Connected Nation (CN) today announced that Netflix is supporting the national nonprofit’s attempt to earn a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the “longest internet literacy live stream.”

“We’ve long worked to strengthen internet access and quality for our members, and we’re proud to support Connected Nation in bringing this world record attempt to life.” – Gina Haspilaire, VP of Open Connect Partnerships and Infrastructure, Netflix

Netflix joins more than 25 national and international organizations participating in “25 Hours. One Connected World,” a global event aimed at expanding access to digital skills training and raising awareness of the Digital Divide.

“Every community deserves the chance to connect, learn, and be entertained by great stories – and that starts with reliable access to the internet,” said Gina Haspilaire, Vice President of Open Connect Partnerships and Infrastructure, Netflix. “We’ve long worked to strengthen internet access and quality for our members, and we’re proud to support Connected Nation in bringing this world record attempt to life, shining a light on the importance of turning access into opportunity for communities across America.”

The event will take place two weeks from today on September 24 and 25. It will feature 25 consecutive hours of live, expert-led digital skills training that’s free and accessible globally via live stream at bit.ly/CNWorldRecord. It will begin on Thursday, September 24 at 9am ET.

“Attempting this world record is our way of shining a spotlight on the critical role digital literacy plays in modern life,” said Tom Ferree, Chairman & CEO, CN. “The internet connects us to information, education, entertainment, and opportunity, but only if people have the skills to use it effectively. For 25 consecutive hours, we’ll be bringing those skills to communities everywhere. We’re honored to have Netflix support this effort and help raise awareness about the importance of ensuring no one is left behind in our increasingly connected world.”

Globally, billions of people who are online still lack the basic skills to use digital devices and services safely, according to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), making initiatives like this critical for improving lives. In the United States alone, nearly 1 in 3 workers lack the foundational digital skills needed to succeed in today’s economy, according to the National Skills Coalition.

The world record attempt will feature hands-on training, expert-led sessions, and real-time engagement from live locations spanning Australia, Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America, as well as across the United States.

Participants can browse the full schedule of free courses and view a list of training partners at bit.ly/CNWorldRecord, or download it here.

More details about this world record attempt:
The Guinness World Records organization has provided specific parameters that must be met to achieve the world record title for “longest internet literacy live stream.” To qualify for the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title, the live stream must run continuously for 25 hours with no pauses longer than one minute and maintain a minimum of 50 live viewers at all times.

“This is a chance for anyone, anywhere, to find five minutes or five hours that speak directly to them,” said Heather Gate, Executive Vice President, Digital Transformation, CN. “We are calling on individuals, families, and communities everywhere to be part of something historic. We want to inspire action, empower individuals, and demonstrate that digital skills can change lives in every community.”
