MPM Products Among First to Certify Under New, Stricter B Corp Standards

The global pet food group is one of 20 companies in the first U.K. cohort to certify under B Lab’s new, more rigorous social and environmental criteria

MANCHESTER, England, Oct. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — MPM Products, the global brand house devoted to making nutritious, protein-rich pet food, has earned renewed B Corp Certification under more rigorous social and environmental standards.

MPM B Corp Certification Announcement

The certification signifies that MPM is part of a global movement that believes it’s just as important for companies to benefit people, communities and the planet as it is to make profits.

U.K.-based MPM first achieved B Corp Certification in 2021, when it voluntarily demonstrated how its business practices had positive impacts on workers, customers, suppliers, the community and the environment.

Last year the organization that awards the certification, B Lab, raised the bar for earning the highly-regarded designation. Now B Corp Certification mandates sufficient performance thresholds across all seven core impact areas, from climate action to human rights to fair work, and requires third-party verification, for an added layer of independence.

MPM joined 19 other companies as the first cohort of U.K. businesses to certify as B Corps under B Lab’s new standards. This is MPM’s third certification by B Lab.

“We’re incredibly proud to be among the early adopters to recertify against B Lab’s new standards, but for us, recertification isn’t the end point; it gives us a stronger framework for what comes next,” said Joy Stevenson, MPM’s Impact Manager for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).

“With the combined support of our Leadership Team and new investors, we have a real opportunity to continue maturing our ESG programme, from evolving our human rights due diligence and defining our pathway towards Net Zero Greenhouse gas emissions, to continuing to strengthen the resilient and responsible supply chain relationships we’ve built over more than 20 years,” she said.

MPM stands out in the market for its unwavering focus on cats. It holds a global portfolio of leading, premium cat food brands including Applaws, Reveal, and Encore. Since its founding in 2002, MPM (short for Making Pet Food Matters) has expanded into over 50 markets worldwide, with offices in the U.K., U.S., Australia and Thailand.

MPM has always had a higher purpose than simply building a profitable business. Doing the right thing by cats, people and the planet has been part of MPM’s DNA since it was started on the belief that every cat deserves premium-quality food that’s made specifically for them. And now these pillars of quality, transparency and accountability are supporting B Corp benchmarks across the entire company.

Among MPM’s milestones in its B Corp Certification:

  • More than 428 million pet meals sold across the world in 2025 through omnichannel distribution that makes the brands widely available.
  • 7.7 million-plus pet meals donated since 2021, helping support rescue centers and pets in need.
  • Customer complaints below the industry average, with just 2.03 complaints per million units sold, demonstrating a continued commitment to quality.
  • Launch of a new Climate Action Plan, including improving logistics efficiency and maintaining over 92% recyclable packaging.
  • Becoming part of Partners Group following the 2025 acquisition from 3i Group, with continued investor support for MPM’s commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices.

Sustainability extends across MPM’s product development process. MPM partners with long-term suppliers that share its principles. It has built a supply chain that prioritizes ingredient traceability, emissions visibility, climate risk management, and human rights standards.

The ingredients in MPM’s brands can be traced back to their source within hours. The company requires 100% of manufacturing partners to comply with its Supplier Code of Conduct, which includes regular audits and site visits.

And the proof of this robust, quality management system can be seen in every Applaws, Reveal and Encore bag, pouch and can: visibly better cat food.

MPM and its brands were built around a philosophy of high-quality, recognisable ingredients, with recipes featuring premium cuts of poultry or fish and no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.

The goal is to make every meal a special moment between humans and their feline companions. Cats can be so finicky and aloof that mealtime might be the only interaction of the day with their humans.

So Applaws, Reveal and Encore have a wide variety of options for every cat and kitten, from complete and balanced entrées, patés, and dry food, to lickable treats and complementary special dishes with high-quality proteins in broth. And the flavor lineup satisfies the fussiest of palates with chicken breast, tuna fillet, chicken liver, duck, salmon, shrimp and more.

For MPM, operating all aspects of its business in a manner that’s in sync with B Corp standards is not just hype for its annual report. The values are embedded in the ethos of the company. And by meeting B Lab’s higher bar for earning certification, MPM is showing a commitment to continued improvement for years to come.

“Ultimately, it’s about continuing to earn the trust of the shoppers who choose our brands, while never assuming we have all the answers,” said Stevenson, the ESG Impact Manager for MPM. “One of the things I value about both the B Corp and pet industry is the shared drive to keep moving forward, learning from each other, sharing experiences and continually challenging ourselves to do better.”

“The new standards deliberately raise the bar, and we know there will always be more to do,” Stevenson said. “But that’s part of the journey, if there’s another mountain to climb, we’re going to climb it.”
