Free interactive tide charts help boaters and swimmers plan safer outings on America’s most iconic alpine lake
INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev., April 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Jetsetter Guide today announced the launch of the Lake Tahoe Tidal Prediction System, a free set of tide charts covering five monitoring stations around the lake’s 72-mile shoreline. The resource, available at JetsetterGuide.com/lake-tahoe-tides, provides hourly water level predictions, high and low tide times, and lunar phase correlations for recreational boaters, paddleboarders, swimmers, and beachgoers.

Unlike ocean tides, Lake Tahoe’s water level fluctuations are influenced by lunar positioning, barometric pressure differentials, and the lake’s 1,645-foot depth—creating what researchers call a “lacustrine seiche effect.” The system tracks five stations from Tahoe City Harbor to Emerald Bay, where sheltered geography creates a 40-minute tide delay with dampened amplitude.
Spring Tides Coincide with Memorial Day Weekend
The full moon on May 31, 2026, falls on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend, creating maximum spring tide conditions during peak recreational traffic. Spring tides produce approximately 12 inches of total tidal range, compared with 5–6 inches during neap tides.
“With 300 search and rescue cases annually on this lake, anything that helps people plan ahead is a win for safety,” said Lt. Cliff Marker of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 11-1.
The tool offers daily high/low tide times, hourly water level predictions in feet (NAVD88 datum), 7-day and monthly forecasts, moon phase indicators, and a mobile-friendly interface. Data is generated using NOAA-standard harmonic analysis with 2026 lunar ephemeris data.
