New capabilities look beyond agent identity to assess the risk behind individual AI-initiated actions

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — As AI agents begin making purchases, payments and account changes on behalf of consumers, financial institutions face a new challenge: knowing an AI agent is legitimate does not necessarily mean the action it is taking is authorized by the person behind it.

Incognia is the innovator in location identity solutions that deliver cutting-edge user verification and account security across the digital journey.

Incognia, the leader in cross-device risk intelligence, today introduced AI Agent Detection, a new capability designed to help financial institutions identify agentic activity and assess the risk behind AI-initiated actions. The company is also expanding its web risk intelligence with Web Behavioral Biometrics and introducing an MCP Server that brings Incognia intelligence into compatible AI applications used for fraud investigations.

“While FIs are progressing ahead on agentic AI, many lack reliable verification, detection, and governance frameworks to manage the underlying risks appropriately,” says Jim Mortenson, Fraud Strategic Advisor at Datos Insights. “Organizations must invest now in innovative control infrastructures to distinguish between good and bad humans as well as the agents acting on their behalf in order to create long-term resilience and reduce the risk of costly redesigns.”

Incognia’s approach evaluates the agent and the action separately. AI Agent Detection combines signed-request verification, agent-origin classification, bot and automation detection and Incognia’s broader risk intelligence. When an action requires additional confidence, financial institutions can verify it against signals from the customer’s trusted devices, account activity, device integrity, network and location.

“AI agents change the trust problem for financial institutions,” said André Ferraz, co-founder and CEO of Incognia. “Knowing that a request came from a legitimate agent isn’t the same as knowing that a specific action should be allowed. Businesses need to connect that request back to the real customer and the context surrounding the action so they can support legitimate agentic experiences without giving up the risk controls they’ve spent years building.”

Incognia is also extending its risk intelligence across web interactions with Web Behavioral Biometrics, adding signals such as mouse movement, keyboard interaction and copy-and-paste activity to its existing browser, device, automation and location intelligence. When additional verification is needed, Incognia can connect the web session to a trusted mobile device, providing additional evidence to determine whether the person behind the interaction is legitimate.

Incognia’s new MCP Server brings that intelligence into AI-assisted fraud investigations. Fraud analysts can use compatible AI applications to retrieve relevant evidence, identify connections across devices and accounts and organize findings for review using natural-language questions. The initial MCP experience is read-only, keeping enforcement decisions and actions under human control.

Incognia combines apartment-level location intelligence with device and behavioral signals to continuously recognize trusted users across devices and sessions, while detecting fraud. The company supports global companies across mobility, marketplaces and financial services, helping prevent fraud while reducing friction for legitimate users.
