Move will maintain Huntington’s longtime presence on Capitol Square and create a modern, accessible customer experience

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Huntington Bank today announced plans to relocate its historic downtown Columbus branch from its current space at 17 S. High St. to a new storefront within the same building. The move reinforces the bank’s deep commitment to the downtown core and will enhance convenience and access for customers.

The relocated branch will maintain Huntington’s 160-year presence at the corner of Broad and High, and provide a refreshed, street-level banking environment designed to better serve customers, colleagues, nearby businesses, residents and visitors. The move is expected to be completed in summer 2027, and branch operations will continue in the historic branch until the new space opens.

The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law will occupy the historic branch space as part of its relocation to 17 S. High St. Huntington previously sold the building to Downtown Columbus, Inc. The location places the college within walking distance of 80% of the flagship law firms that recruit from Moritz.

“Huntington was founded in 1866 by P.W. Huntington at the corner of Broad and High. This move brings us even closer to the original headquarters location and positions us in a state-of-the-art facility,” said Sue Zazon, Central Ohio Regional President for Huntington. “For more than a century, this branch has been part of downtown Columbus’ story. This relocation allows us to honor that history while creating a modern, accessible experience for our customers. This move reflects our continued confidence in the future of downtown Columbus and our commitment as the hometown bank helping it thrive.”

Within the historic branch space, Moritz will construct a dedicated, permanent display to preserve and highlight the historic significance of the space and building, including P.W. Huntington’s office, the teller line, clock and other important details of the room.

“Moritz played a pivotal role in my professional journey, so it’s especially exciting to see the law school move into a vibrant downtown location,” said Marcy Hingst, General Counsel for Huntington. “Being immersed in the center of Columbus’ legal and civic community will give students unparalleled access to the people, organizations and experiences that help shape successful careers. I look forward to meeting and engaging with students as they take advantage of all this new chapter has to offer.”

At the new storefront branch, customers will continue to have access to the same full range of personal and business banking services they rely on today, including trusted financial guidance from local bankers and Huntington’s broader digital banking capabilities and branch network.

As downtown Columbus continues to evolve, Huntington remains committed to maintaining a significant presence at its corporate headquarters within Huntington Center and supporting redevelopment opportunities that contribute to a vibrant downtown.

Additional details on the opening date, branch hours and customer transition information will be shared closer to the move. Customers can continue to visit the existing downtown branch during regular business hours until the new storefront opens in summer 2027.
