For the second year in a row, Centaurus is the premier sponsor of the private animal shelter’s annual fundraiser.
The event, dubbed Tails at Daylight, will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. October 10 at StanCraft Jet Center in Hayden, Idaho. General admission tickets are $125 each and can be obtained on Companions’ website, companionsanimalcenter.org/tails-at-twilight.
Centaurus’ $25,000 donation will help fund shelter programs like low-cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinics; low-cost veterinary care for residents; Safe Haven, which offers temporary care for animals whose owners are victims of family violence; and more.
Why is an Anaheim, California, firm supporting an animal shelter in northern Idaho?
“We have a corporate office in northern Idaho, in Coeur d’Alene,” Centaurus CEO Ron King said. “And, animals are near and dear to our hearts. We believe in providing help to those who can’t help themselves, and homeless animals certainly qualify.”
This year’s event will feature a special delivery: A plane with about 20 small, homeless dogs is scheduled to land at the jet center during the dinner and auction. Attendees will be the first to welcome them to Idaho, where Companions will oversee their care until permanent homes are found.
The dogs were rescued from Los Angeles city shelters by Paws for Life K9 Rescue, based in Mission Hills, California, and will be flown to Idaho by Wings of Rescue, a nonprofit group that transports animals from overcrowded shelters and disaster areas to locations where they have better chances of finding homes.
Like many areas of the Northwest, northern Idaho has a dearth of small dogs in need of homes. “We are overloaded with large dogs,” said Vicky Nelson, Companions’ development director.
Last year’s event raised more than $128,000 for the facility, she said, adding that the shelter hopes to surpass that this year. To that end, an unlimited number of sponsorships at $5,000 and $3,000 each are available. The money will help an organization that’s centered around the animals in its care. “Every dollar raised, regardless of the fundraising source, directly supports our life-saving mission and helps provide homeless animals with care, compassion, and second chances,” Nelson said.
With help from Centaurus, the shelter is on its way to reaching its goal.
