Hundreds gather at The New Yorker Hotel for worship, prayer and messages of peace and religious freedom
NEW YORK, Sept. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Hundreds gathered Sunday in the Grand Ballroom of The New Yorker Hotel for a Faith Freedom Peace Sunday Service, an event centered on worship, prayer, peace and the importance of religious freedom.
The service brought together members of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, clergy, guests and supporters for a morning of music, prayer and messages focused on faith, perseverance and the responsibility of people of faith to work for peace.
The gathering also included prayers and expressions of support for Dr. Hak Ja Han, the 83-year-old leader of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, who is currently imprisoned in South Korea.
Rev. Demian Dunkley, President of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification USA, delivered the main message, reflecting on the biblical call to be peacemakers and the challenges that can accompany efforts to bring about change.
“A peacemaker is a change maker, and never in history is a change maker welcomed by the ones he seeks to change,” Dunkley told the gathering.
Guest speaker Sean Pennington addressed the meaning of peace and encouraged attendees to remain committed to pursuing it even in times of conflict and difficulty.
Acclaimed gospel artist Wess Morgan joined the service as a special musical guest, leading the ballroom in gospel music and worship.
The event emphasized religious freedom as a principle to be valued and protected and encouraged attendees to respond to difficult circumstances through faith, prayer and peaceful action.
