New capability is first to market and gives restaurant leaders direct access to their operating data with the business context AI needs to understand it without any additional fees.

OMAHA, Neb., Sept. 17, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Decision Logic, a provider of back-of-house operations software for restaurants, today announced Open Semantic Access, a new way for restaurant operators to securely use their Decision Logic data with the AI tools they already use.

The idea is simple: your data should work for you, wherever you want to use it.

Restaurant companies generate enormous amounts of operating data across sales, labor, inventory, food cost, and other areas of the business. But getting an answer from that data can still mean requesting a custom report, combining exports from hundreds of restaurants, or buying additional business intelligence software.

Open Semantic Access is designed to remove those barriers and give every large restaurant operator working with Decision Logic the opportunity to move faster as they look to understand how to use AI tools to better manage their business.

Decision Logic customers get read-only access to their operating data; which retains enterprise privacy standards; the ability to export it, and the context that explains what the data means. This ensures an AI tool can understand the difference between gross and net sales, or a case and an individual item, before it begins answering a question.

Restaurant leaders can then use the AI tools their teams already choose to work with, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and others rather than being locked into a single vendor’s disconnected AI chat function.

“Restaurant operators shouldn’t have to buy their own data back just because they want to use it with AI,” said Keegan Conrey, CEO of Decision Logic. “Open Semantic Access is built around a straightforward principle: it’s your data. You should be able to use it with the tools you choose, ask the questions that matter to your business and get answers without waiting for someone else’s roadmap.”

From waiting for reports to asking questions

For multi-unit restaurant operators, answering a question that falls outside an existing dashboard can become a project of its own. Data may need to be exported restaurant by restaurant, combined and cleaned before analysis can even begin. A new report may take weeks or months to build.

Open Semantic Access changes that workflow by making the underlying data and its definitions available together.

Instead of asking, “Do we have a report for that?” leadership can start with a business question.

An operator could use AI to compare the ideal versus actual performance of a menu item, better understand true guest traffic or build a menu margin view based on its own operating data. What once required a new report or application can become a question, analysis or tool created around the operator’s specific needs.

Decision Logic estimates that this approach can make the path from question to answer three to four times faster in applicable use cases.

Open data without an AI toll

Open Semantic Access is included at no additional charge from Decision Logic.

That distinction becomes increasingly important as restaurant brands grow. An illustrative AI or API add-on priced at $300 per restaurant would cost a 450-location organization more than $135,000 annually and increase with every new opening.

With Open Semantic Access, Decision Logic does not charge a per-location fee to turn the capability on.

The approach also gives restaurant companies more flexibility as AI evolves. Customers bring their own tools, methodologies, and credentials, so they can use the technology that works for them today and change it tomorrow without changing the underlying access to their operating data.

“We don’t think restaurant companies should have to choose between getting more value from AI and keeping control of their data,” said Conrey. “Our job is to make the operating data useful and understandable. The operator should decide what they want to do with it.”

Open Semantic Access is available now. Restaurant operators can see it live at the Decision Logic booth at FSTEC 2026 or request a demo at decisionlogic.io/demo.
