Over 560 employees step away from daily roles to support local nonprofit organizations

CAMDEN, Maine, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — From harvesting fall crops and stocking food pantry shelves to preparing meals and helping local organizations tackle hands-on projects, more than 560 Camden National Bank employees spent Wednesday afternoon volunteering with 62 nonprofits across Maine and New Hampshire as part of the Bank’s Community Well-being Day.

Camden National Bank closed its offices and banking centers at noon on Wednesday, September 9, to give employees dedicated time to support the many important causes that make a difference in the communities we serve. The bankwide volunteer effort was organized by a group of employees and built around the specific needs of participating nonprofit organizations, creating opportunities for teams to provide meaningful, practical assistance in a single afternoon.

“Our employees care deeply about the places where they live and work, and Community Well-being Day gives us a powerful way to put that care into action,” said Renée Smyth, Executive Vice President and Chief Experience & Marketing Officer at Camden National Bank. “By dedicating this time to volunteer service, our employees are able to support the organizations that strengthen our communities every day and see firsthand the meaningful impact of showing up together.”

Erin Espinosa, Farm Program Manager at Aldermere Farm and Erickson Fields Preserve said, “We love having Camden National Bank out to help us harvest our winter squash. Most of the vegetables we grow are donated to local food pantries, so we have limited resources and labor. We couldn’t grow and harvest all of this food without volunteers. We especially love sharing this work with local folks who drive by the farm regularly and wonder what’s going on in the fields.” Camden National Bank’s 14 volunteers at Aldermere Farm and Erickson Fields Preserve made an immediate and measurable impact, harvesting 1,700 pounds of squash and preparing 600 bulbs of garlic.

Community Well-being Day builds on Camden National Bank’s broader commitment to its giving back. In addition to this afternoon of service, Camden National Bank provides employees with eight hours of paid volunteer time off each year, helping employees contribute on top of the thousands of hours they already give annually to hundreds of organizations throughout the region.

This event marked the second year that Camden National Bank has closed its operations for an afternoon to give back through volunteerism.
