WASHINGTON, Sept. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The Canadian American Business Council (CABC) is pleased to announce that former Canadian Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Kirsten Hillman, will join the CABC Advisory Board.

Canadian American Business Council

Ambassador Hillman brings decades of experience at the highest levels of Canadian diplomacy, trade policy, and international economic affairs. As one of Canada’s longest-serving Ambassadors to the United States, serving from 2020 to 2026, she led the Canada-U.S. relationship through three U.S.- administrations, two Canadian governments, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Ambassador Hillman has been an extraordinary leader and a tireless champion of the bilateral relationship,” said Beth Burke, CEO of the Canadian American Business Council. “Her deep understanding of both countries, her relationships across Washington and Canada, and her unparalleled experience on trade and economic policy will be invaluable to CABC and our members. We are thrilled to welcome her to our Advisory Board.”

Throughout her tenure in Washington, Ambassador Hillman established herself as one of Canada’s foremost voices on the bilateral relationship, building strong relationships with leaders across the nation. Her extensive experience will be an important asset to CABC as it works to strengthen the economic and strategic ties between Canada and the United States.

“Ambassador Hillman’s years in strengthening relationships between the U.S. and Canada, and her unique position during the negotiation and implementation of USMCA give her an important perspective at a critical moment for North American trade,” said Tom Gannon, Chair of the Council. “We are very pleased to welcome her to the CABC Advisory Board and look forward to benefiting from her counsel.”

Earlier in her career, Ambassador Hillman served as Canada’s Senior Legal Advisor to the World Trade Organization in Geneva and as Chief Legal Counsel in the negotiation of several international environmental agreements. She currently serves as a strategic advisor to companies in Canada, the United States, and Europe and is a Distinguished Fellow at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.

“For many years I have seen first-hand the vital role that the CABC plays in fostering a strong and successful relationship among the private and public sectors in Canada and the U.S.,” said Ambassador Hillman. “Their mission is as important today as it has ever been and I look forward to making a contribution to their important work.”

As a member of the Advisory Board, Ambassador Hillman joins a distinguished group of leaders from across both nations providing strategic guidance as the CABC continues to promote a strong, secure, and mutually beneficial bilateral relationship.
