Basic Invite’s Mailing Service Extends Holiday Card Deadlines by a Week

Order by December 4 to address and mail cards yourself, or until December 11 when Basic Invite mails them for you, ahead of the USPS December 17 holiday mailing deadline.

WASHINGTON, Utah, Oct. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Basic Invite, the online stationery company, today released its 2026 holiday card order deadlines. Customers who want cards shipped home to address and mail themselves should order by Friday, December 4, or by Thursday, December 10 with Rush. Customers who use Basic Invite’s direct mailing service can order until Friday, December 11, because their cards go straight from production into the mail.

The U.S. Postal Service recommends mailing First-Class holiday cards by Thursday, December 17 for delivery before December 25. Every holiday card has to fit three steps into the time before that date: printing, shipping to the sender, and the sender addressing, stamping and mailing it. Basic Invite’s deadlines work backward from that date so customers don’t have to.

2026 Holiday Card Order Deadlines

For delivery in the contiguous U.S. before Christmas, order by these dates:

Shipped orders arrive by Monday, December 14, leaving time to address and mail cards by December 17. Orders are not produced or shipped on weekends or holidays. Military (APO/FPO/DPO) mail deadlines are earlier.

Direct Mailing Service

Basic Invite’s white glove mailing service removes the two slowest steps: shipping cards to the customer and addressing envelopes. Customers upload an address list or send friends and family a free address-collection link. Basic Invite prints the addresses and mails the finished cards directly to every recipient.

“Most people don’t realize their holiday card deadline is really a shipping deadline,” said Eric Mortensen, CMO of Basic Invite. “When we mail the cards for you, there’s no waiting for a box to arrive and no addressing at the kitchen table. That buys busy families an extra week to get their photo and design just right.”

Basic Invite offers more than 750 holiday card designs, including a full collection of Christmas cards. Each is customizable in color, wording and paper, with foil options, 30+ envelope colors and printed return addresses. Cards start at 48¢ each, and printed custom samples are available.

For a limited time, customers can save 30% on holiday cards with code HOLI30.
