Recognition marks the 11th consecutive year VU has made the prestigious list
COLUMBIA, Mo., April 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — For the 11th consecutive year, Great Place To Work® and Fortune magazine have recognized Veterans United Home Loans as one of the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For® in 2026.
Veterans United has been chosen for the prestigious list every year since 2016 and is one of three Missouri-based companies to make the 2026 ranking. The company is one of only two Veteran-focused organizations on the nationwide list.
The 100 Best Companies to Work For list is the only recognition that focuses on how employees feel about their workplace. Great Place to Work evaluates confidential feedback from employees, matching against HR data from participating companies. Only companies with consistently high survey responses across the 60 statements that comprise the Trust Index™ Survey are honored with inclusion on the list.
“What I love about this recognition is that almost none of our people come to work asking themselves, ‘I wonder if I’m helping Veterans United become one of the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For?’ They don’t have to think about it, and yet they absolutely make this a great place to work, said Veterans United Director of Culture, Ian Franz. “They just show up with a fresh commitment to their work, to the people they serve, and to each other. And when we consistently do that, the craziest thing happens: it turns work into something more than just a place you have to be,” he added.
Veterans United, founded in Columbia, Mo. in 2002, has grown to include over 5,000 employees nationwide, including offices in 20 states. More than 3,200 people work at Veterans United offices in Columbia and Jefferson City, Mo.
Earning a spot on the list is an important indicator of overall company performance. Companies on the 100 Best list consistently outperform the market and exceed their competitors on key business measures like retention and innovation.
One unique aspect of Veterans United is its foundation, which was created by employees in 2011 and is funded from employee contributions that are matched by the company. In 2025, Veterans United Foundation surpassed the $155 million raised for charity and continued its support of communities across the country by helping organizations and individuals in need. Nearly 90 percent of Veterans United employees donate a portion of each paycheck to support the Foundation.
The Foundation is celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2026 and will be announcing plans shortly to celebrate this milestone.
